A Personal Thank You

Bob McBath, born 17 August 1929 in Lisbon - New York, father to Pam & Allen, loving husband to Mary died on Thursday 28 February 2002 in Cobb General Hospital in Smyrna - Georgia (USA) due to effects of acute leukemia.

Bob, a vibrant individual...was a veteran from the U.S. Army and spent each summer reuniting with his army buddies from the 508th paratroopers. He worked for 25 years with The United States Treasury Department as an Internal Revenue Agent and retired in 1990 and began to work for himself. He was not only a member of his church for over 30 years but he was also treasurer and very involved in the community programs. He won many awards for his involvement with the Boy Scouts Of America. They are in the process of memorializing Bob's name and contributions with a flagpole in front of the Boy Scouts building.

Bob had a contagious smile and touched the hearts of many people. He had a great sense of humor and always ready with a good joke.

I want to thank family, friends and fans for their support during the hard times surrounding my Dad's death.

My Dad worked with the Boy Scouts Of America for about 25 years. He worked with the troop from our church - Troop 61 - and helped build their Scout Lodge which was a 2 year project. It is a beautiful Log Cabin that allows the Boy Scouts a place to further their program.

Dad was an inspiration to many boys that came through the troop.

I particularly remember a guy I spoke with at Dad's funeral who told me, with a tear in his eye, how much my Dad's friendship meant to him since he grew up without a Father.

The organization has formed The Bob McBath Memorial Fund that allows boys who cannot afford the scout camp in the Summer a chance to go. They have now collected enough money to cover the next five years.

Also there are plans to erect a flag pole in honor of my Dad in front of the Scout Lodge with a plaque telling of my Dad's dedication to this program for the enrichment of young boy's lives. It will fly the American flag and the flag of the Boy Scouts Of America, and will also honor the fact that he served in the military.

My Dad was a great man and I am proud of him. He left a legacy in the hearts of many boy's whose life he touched.

I miss him dearly.

Thanks to everyone for your love and encouragement in a still very difficult time.

Pam
